NBC and Brian Williams Have an Opportunity to Help Veterans

While I don't normally write about current events, I'm making an exception for the Brian Williams situation because it relates to veterans.

NBC and Mr. Williams have an opportunity to repair the damage he did to the network and to his reputation, and at the same time help our wounded warriors. Here’s a simple, three-step plan for making lemonade from these lemons:

  1. NBC should donate Mr. Williams’ forfeited six month’s salary to the Wounded Warrior Project.
  2. Mr. Williams should record a series of ads admitting that he embellished his wartime reporting experience, apologizing to veterans and viewers, noting that our veterans are the true heroes, and encouraging people to donate to Wounded Warrior.
  3. NBC should donate air time for these spots on the Nightly News and the Today show.

We all make mistakes. Mr. Williams deserves a second chance if he shows true remorse. How great it would be if he and NBC would do some good for our veterans in the process.
